In short: the DotSafe app collects no data. We have no servers and no accounts, and we cannot see what you keep in DotSafe. The app has no analytics. Only this website counts visits, with PostHog and with no cookies. Help pages that open from the app count nothing.
Who we are
In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Mobiusly Pty Ltd (ABN 99 134 460 183), an Australian company. We make the DotSafe app and own this website, dotsafe.app. To contact us about privacy, email dotsafe@mobiusly.com.
The DotSafe app
What you keep in DotSafe
Your photos, videos, files and records are encrypted on your device with a key that comes from your pattern. We do not receive them. We do not receive your pattern or your keys. We cannot open, read, recover or delete your vaults.
What the app sends to us
Nothing. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting service that sends data. It does not use a tracking identifier. The app does not contain PostHog or any other analytics code.
iCloud sync and backup (Pro)
If you turn on sync for a vault, DotSafe stores an encrypted copy of that vault in the private iCloud database of your Apple Account. The data is encrypted on your device before it is sent. Apple stores it, but cannot read it. Apple can see how much storage DotSafe uses and when it changes. Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud.
DotSafe keeps a random value, called a salt, and your sharing keys in iCloud Keychain. They let your other devices calculate the same keys from your pattern. They do not contain your pattern.
Vault sharing (Pro)
When you share a vault, Apple's iCloud sharing connects the members. Apple can see the Apple Accounts of the members, and how many vaults you share. Apple cannot see what is in them. The members of a shared vault can see who else is in it. Your other vaults stay hidden from them.
Purchases
Apple processes all purchases. We do not receive your name, your email address or your payment details. Apple gives developers sales reports that do not identify you. The app checks your plan with Apple on your device.
Help pages in the app
When you open help, the privacy policy or the terms from the app, the app loads that page from this website. Those pages load no analytics and set no cookies. They remember your theme only until you close the page.
Camera and Photos
DotSafe asks to use the camera so that you can take photos and videos straight into a vault and scan contact codes. It asks to use Photos so that you can import from your library, delete the originals and save copies back. It uses these permissions only when you ask it to.
This website
Analytics
This section is about this website only. The DotSafe app does not use PostHog.
We use PostHog to count visits and to see which pages are useful. PostHog keeps nothing on your device: it sets no cookies and writes no local storage, so each page view is not linked to the next. We do not record sessions, and we do not collect what you type.
For each page view, PostHog receives the page address, the address of the page that sent you, your browser and device type, your screen size, and an approximate location. We set PostHog not to store IP addresses. If your browser sends "Do Not Track", PostHog does not count the visit. PostHog stores the data in the United States.
Hosting
Netlify hosts this website. Like any web server, it receives your IP address to send you the page, and it can keep it in logs for a short time for security.
Your theme
If you select a theme on this website, your browser remembers it on your device. We do not receive it.
If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply to you. Do not send your pattern or private files. We never need them.
Children
DotSafe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, at any age.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can have the right to see, correct or delete personal data about you. The app gives us no personal data. For website analytics, we cannot link page views to a person. For email, write to us and we will delete your messages.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change affects what the app does with data, we will also say so in the App Store notes for that update.
